I have joined the board of the Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA)! I am the Region 5 representative for the Western U.S. and can't wait to get completely involved in the work that MANA is doing.
One of the most exciting things is working with the MANA President, Gera. She is an inspiring woman who just recently published her book, Into These Hands, Wisdom from Midwives. It is a sweet and special book. I feel lucky to be able to work with such a wise woman (and the rest of the wise women on the board).
My daughters are my loves. Growing. Driving. No more braces. Making choices that are challenging and pride inducing to their mom. Guess I am growing, too.
Enjoying being a part of the community action here in Phoenix against the immigration laws. Found myself dancing outside the 4th Avenue Jail to Mexican music the other day. (thanks for the photo, Robert)
Looking forward to some baseball games this month. A trip to the hot springs and Joshua Tree. A visit from family. A birthday breakfast with the midwives of Freedom at one of my favorite spots.
Freedom participated in the Local to Global Teach-In this past weekend in Tempe. Informative speakers, community tables, and lunch...all for free. We can't wait to go back next year!
Of course, the Babies! Most recent is Baby T - oh, adorable, sensitive, patient and beautiful like his mama and dad.
Jennifer has been doing the New Moon Circles at our office. They are always different and always nourishing. Last night we made Mandalas and on Tuesday will take them to the bridge.
Finally, Wendi has been busy organizing for International Woman's Day - we are meeting on the Mill Avenue Bridge. If you will be in Tempe, Arizona on Tuesday, 3/8/11, come to our office at 12pm and from there we will be walking to the bridge. Can't wait to see you :)
